Description

2,4,6-Tris([1,1'-biphenyl]-4-yl)-1,3,5-triazine, commercially known as Tinosorb A 2B and also referred to as Tris-Biphenyl Triazine, is a triazine-based UV absorber with CAS 31274-51-8 and EC 479-950-7. It absorbs ultraviolet radiation across UVA and UVB ranges by converting photon energy into harmless heat through molecular excitation.

In sunscreen and personal care formulations, it functions as a broad-spectrum UV filter, protecting both the product matrix and skin from photodegradation. In polymer and coating systems, it stabilizes the substrate against UV-induced chain scission and discoloration, extending service life in outdoor-exposed applications such as automotive coatings and engineering plastics.

Supplied as a crystalline powder, this material is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU. It is classified under HS code 2933.69.6050 for customs purposes. Buyers should confirm applicable cosmetic regulatory status under EU Regulation 1223/2009 before use in finished personal care products.
