Description
2-Ethylhexyl glycidyl ether (CAS 2461-15-6) is a monofunctional reactive diluent based on a branched-chain aliphatic glycidyl ether structure. It is commercially available under trade names including Heloxy MK 116 and Denacol EX 121, and carries no assigned E-code. It is also referred to by the abbreviation EH-GE in formulation contexts.
In epoxy coating systems, it reduces viscosity while remaining chemically incorporated into the cured network, avoiding the plasticisation losses associated with inert solvents. In adhesive and sealant formulations, its long alkyl chain increases chain flexibility between crosslink points, lowering glass transition temperature and improving peel resistance. It also functions as a reactive plasticiser in polymer compounding.
This product is supplied as a REACH-registered substance and is available in standard drum and IBC packaging suited to industrial procurement volumes. No FCC or Ph.Eur. grade is applicable to this substance. Buyers should request a current Safety Data Sheet and confirm SDS revision status prior to ordering.
