Description

2-Oleoylglycerol (CAS 3443-84-3), also known as 2-Monoolein, 2-OG, MG(18:1), or MAG(18:1), is a monoacylglycerol consisting of a glycerol backbone esterified with oleic acid at the sn-2 position. It carries no assigned E-code and is distinct from the more common sn-1 isomer found in commercial monoglyceride blends.

In food and pharmaceutical formulations, 2-OG functions as an emulsifier by orienting at oil-water interfaces to stabilize dispersions, and as a lipid carrier to improve the solubilization of poorly water-soluble active compounds. It also acts as an endogenous signaling lipid analog in nutritional research, where it is used to study GPR119 receptor activation and fat-sensing mechanisms.

2-Oleoylglycerol is available in research and industrial grades as an oil-phase liquid. It falls under REACH registration requirements for EU supply. Procurement quantities typically range from gram-scale research packs to kilogram batches, with purity specifications confirmed by HPLC or GC analysis.
