Description

3,4,4-Trichlorocarbanilide (CAS 101-20-2), also known by trade names Cutisan and Genoface and the abbreviation TCC, is a chlorinated carbanilide compound classified as a pharmaceutical intermediate and antimicrobial active. It carries no assigned E-code and is registered under EC number 202-924-1.

In personal care formulations, TCC functions as a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic agent by disrupting bacterial cell membrane integrity, making it a documented active in antibacterial bar soaps and topical preparations. In textile and leather processing, it is applied as a durable antimicrobial finish that inhibits odour-causing bacterial growth on treated fibres.

TCC is available in pharmaceutical and technical grades as a white crystalline powder. It is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU, and procurement should account for current regulatory scrutiny under cosmetics legislation. Standard packaging formats include fibre drums and multi-layer bags.
