In textile and leather processing, 4-Octylphenol acts as a precursor to octylphenol ethoxylates, which lower interfacial tension between fiber substrates and aqueous baths to enable uniform dye penetration. In polymer and rubber production, it functions as a reactive monomer and antioxidant stabilizer, inhibiting oxidative chain degradation during high-temperature processing.
