Description

Acesulfame potassium, commonly known as Ace-K, E950, or by the trade names Sunett and Otizon, is a synthetic potassium salt sweetener with a sweetness intensity approximately 200 times that of sucrose. It carries the EU designation E950 and is approved for use across a broad range of food and beverage categories.

In beverage formulation, Ace-K is frequently combined with aspartame or sucralose to mask its characteristic bitter aftertaste and deliver a cleaner sweetness profile at low use levels. In baked goods and tabletop sweetener blends, it contributes heat-stable sweetness that remains intact through processing temperatures where some alternative sweeteners degrade.

Acesulfame potassium is available in food-grade quality meeting FCC, Ph.Eur., and JECFA specifications, and is compliant with EU Regulation 1333/2008 on food additives. It is supplied as a crystalline powder and falls under REACH registration obligations. Standard packaging formats include 25 kg bags and fibre drums.
