Description
Acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC, CAS 77-90-7) is a citric acid-based plasticizer commercially available under trade names including Citroflex A and Citroflex A 4, and registered under FEMA 3080 for flavoring applications. It carries no E-number designation in the EU.
In PVC and biopolymer film formulations, ATBC increases chain mobility by reducing intermolecular forces between polymer strands, yielding flexible, low-migration films suitable for food contact packaging. It also functions as a flavor carrier and emollient in food and personal care applications, where its ester structure improves spreadability and retention of aromatic compounds.
ATBC is supplied in food-grade and technical-grade forms, with food-grade material conforming to FCC specifications and REACH registration requirements applicable within the EU. Standard packaging includes drums and IBC containers.
