Acid blue 80

Acid Blue 80 (CAS 4474-24-2, EC 224-748-4) is a synthetic anthraquinone dye registered under CI 61585, also known commercially as Endanil Blue B and C-WR Blue 10. It carries the molecular formula C32H30N2O8S2.2Na and has no assigned E-code, indicating it is not approved as a food additive in the EU.

In textile and leather processing, Acid Blue 80 bonds to protein and polyamide fibres under acidic conditions, producing deep, level blue shades with good wash fastness. It is also used in paper dyeing and ink formulations, where its water solubility and surface-active character support uniform substrate penetration and wetting.

Acid Blue 80 is supplied as a dark blue crystalline powder and falls under REACH registration obligations for EU-based importers and manufacturers.
