Alpha-Isomethyl ionone (CAS 127-51-5, EC 204-846-3) is a synthetic fragrance ingredient also known under the trade names Isoraldeine and alpha-Cetone, and referenced as FEMA 2714 and NSC 66432. It belongs to the ionone family and carries a characteristic woody, violet-like odour profile.
In personal care formulations, it functions as a fixative and modifier, extending the longevity of floral and powdery fragrance accords in products such as fine fragrances, body lotions, and hair care. In coatings and printing applications, it contributes scent masking and odour-balancing properties to finished formulations.
