Description

Aluminium oxide (Al2O3), also known as alumina, Alundum, Faserton, and gamma-alumina, is an inorganic compound of aluminium and oxygen with CAS 1344-28-1. It carries no E-code designation and is classified under HS code 28181010 within the Salts & Minerals category.

In water treatment, alumina acts as an adsorbent that captures fluoride and arsenic ions through surface hydroxyl groups, removing contaminants at trace concentrations. In catalysis and refining applications, gamma-alumina serves as a catalyst support, providing high surface area that disperses active metal phases and sustains reaction efficiency under elevated temperatures.

Aluminium oxide is available in multiple grades including technical, calcined, and activated forms, with particle size and surface area specifications varying by application. Supply is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU. Packaging is typically offered in multi-layer paper sacks, bulk bags, or drums depending on grade and order volume.
