Aluminum chlorohydrate

Aluminum chlorohydrate (ACH), also known under trade names such as Aloxicoll and Aluminum chlorhydrol and registered under CAS 1327-41-9, is an inorganic aluminum salt used primarily as a coagulant and flocculant. It carries no assigned E-code and is distinct from alum-based alternatives in its higher aluminum content and charge density.

In municipal and industrial water treatment, ACH destabilizes suspended particles by neutralizing their surface charge, causing them to aggregate and settle for removal. In textile and paper manufacturing, it functions as a retention aid and sizing agent, binding fibers and fillers more effectively during sheet formation or fabric finishing.

ACH is available in liquid solution and as a glassy solid, with grades conforming to REACH registration requirements for industrial supply within the EU.
