Description

Aluminum Hydroxide (CAS 21645-51-2) is an inorganic mineral compound also known under trade names including Alusal, Higilite, C 4D, AHDG, and H 46. It carries EC number 244-492-7 and the molecular formula AlH3O3. It does not hold an assigned E-code for food applications in the EU.

In building and construction materials and polymer compounding, Aluminum Hydroxide functions as a flame retardant by releasing water vapor when exposed to heat, cooling the substrate and diluting combustible gases. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, it serves as an antacid active and vaccine adjuvant, while in textile and paper processing it acts as a mordant and antimicrobial agent.

This material is available in technical, pharmaceutical (Ph.Eur.), and FCC grades as a dry white amorphous powder or colloidal suspension. It is fully registered under REACH and supplied in multi-layer paper sacks, supersacks, or liquid IBC formats depending on grade and application requirements.
