Description

Aluminum Monostearate (CAS 7047-84-9, EC 230-325-5) is an aluminium salt of stearic acid, also referred to as dibasic aluminium stearate or Al-St 103. It carries no assigned E-code and is distinct from the di- and tristearate forms, each offering different functional profiles in industrial formulations.

In lubricant and grease formulations, it builds a gel network that controls flow and prevents oil separation under shear. In plastics processing, it acts as an internal lubricant and mould-release agent, reducing friction between polymer chains and metal surfaces. Cosmetic manufacturers use it to modify viscosity and stabilise emulsions in topical products.

Aluminum Monostearate is supplied as a fine powder and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU. Buyers should confirm grade suitability against relevant pharmacopoeial standards when targeting pharmaceutical or cosmetic applications. Standard packaging formats include fibre drums and multi-wall paper sacks.
