Aminotri(methylenephosphonic acid), commonly known by trade names Dequest 2000 and BRIQUEST 301-50A and abbreviated as ATMP, is a phosphonate chelating agent registered under CAS 6419-19-8 and EC 229-146-5. It carries no assigned E-code and is not classified as a food-grade additive.
In water treatment, ATMP inhibits scale formation by binding calcium, magnesium, and iron ions before they precipitate onto pipe surfaces and heat exchangers. In textile and paper processing, it sequesters heavy metal contaminants that would otherwise interfere with bleaching chemistry, improving process consistency and reducing chemical consumption.
ATMP is supplied as a colourless aqueous solution and in solid form, with grades available to meet industrial and oilfield specifications.
