Description

Ammonium sulfate (CAS 7783-20-2, EC 231-984-1) is an inorganic salt composed of ammonium and sulfate ions, commercially known under trade names including Dolamin, Actamaster, and Coaltrol LPA 40. It carries no E-code designation and is commonly abbreviated as (NH4)2SO4 in technical documentation.

In agriculture, it delivers both nitrogen and sulfur to soil while acidifying the root zone, making it effective on alkaline soils where nutrient uptake is otherwise limited. Water treatment facilities use it as a chloramine precursor, reacting with free chlorine to form combined chlorine that reduces disinfection byproduct formation. It also functions as a buffering agent and acidulant in food and fermentation processes.

Ammonium sulfate is available in technical, agricultural, and food-grade specifications, with food-grade material produced in compliance with FCC standards. It is subject to REACH registration within the EU and is supplied as a crystalline solid in bulk, big bags, or 25 kg sacks depending on application requirements.
