Astaxanthin

In aquaculture and animal feed, astaxanthin deposits in muscle tissue and egg yolk, producing the characteristic pink-red coloration required in farmed salmon and poultry products. In cosmetic formulations, it functions as a lipid-soluble antioxidant that quenches singlet oxygen and inhibits lipid peroxidation, supporting skin conditioning claims and extending emulsion stability.
