Description

Benzyl acetate (CAS 140-11-4, EC 205-399-7) is an ester produced by the reaction of benzyl alcohol with acetic acid. It is registered under FEMA 2135 and recognised by the fragrance industry under the Jeffsol AG 1705 designation, also appearing in literature as α-acetoxytoluene and benzyl ethanoate.

In flavour applications, benzyl acetate delivers jasmine and peach-like character at concentrations typically between 1 and 50 ppm, functioning as a top-note modifier in confectionery and beverage systems. In fine fragrance and personal care formulations, it acts as a carrier solvent and fixative, improving diffusion of volatile top notes while extending overall scent longevity.

Benzyl acetate is supplied in FCC-grade for food applications and cosmetic-grade in compliance with REACH registration requirements. It is classified under HS code 29153950 for EU customs purposes. Packaging is available in drums and IBCs to meet standard procurement volumes.
