Description

Biotin (CAS 58-85-5) is a water-soluble B-complex vitamin, also known commercially as D-Biotin, Vitamin H, Factor S, BIOS H, and BIOTINUM. It carries no assigned E-code and is identified under EC number 200-399-3 with molecular formula C10H16N2O3S.

In personal care formulations, biotin functions as a skin and hair conditioner by supporting keratin infrastructure, improving tensile strength and moisture retention in topical and rinse-off products. In biotechnology and pharmaceutical manufacturing, it acts as a catalytic cofactor in enzymatic carboxylation reactions and serves as a biochemical anchor in biotin-streptavidin assay systems.

Biotin is available in pharmaceutical-grade (Ph.Eur., USP) and food-grade (FCC) specifications, with REACH compliance documentation available for EU procurement. It is supplied as a white crystalline powder in quantities ranging from kilogram lots to multi-tonne bulk, with standard packaging in fibre drums or double-lined polyethylene bags.
