Description
Bis(2-ethylhexyl) adipate, commonly known as DEHA or BEHA and sold under trade names including Adimoll DO and Adipol 2EH, is a diester plasticizer derived from adipic acid and 2-ethylhexanol. It carries CAS number 103-23-1 and EC number 203-090-1, and has no assigned E-code.
In personal care formulations, DEHA functions as an emollient by reducing transepidermal water loss and imparting a non-greasy skin feel. In food-contact and packaging applications, it plasticizes PVC films by disrupting polymer chain interactions, improving flexibility at low temperatures. It also serves as a lubricant base fluid and synthetic lubricant component in metalworking fluids.
DEHA is available in food-grade and technical-grade qualities, with food-contact grades meeting FCC and relevant EU food-contact material regulations under REACH compliance. It is supplied in drums and IBC containers. Procurement teams should confirm grade specification against intended application prior to ordering.
