Description
Bis(2-ethylhexyl)amine, also known as dioctylamine or diisooctylamine and abbreviated as Di2EHA, is a secondary aliphatic amine with CAS 106-20-7 and EC 203-372-4. It carries no E-code designation. The compound is commercially referenced under names including NSC 5329 and diethylhexylamine.
In coatings and adhesives, Di2EHA functions as a crosslinker and curing catalyst by reacting with isocyanates or epoxy systems to accelerate network formation and improve film integrity. In personal care formulations, it acts as a skin and hair conditioner by neutralising acidic components and modifying surface charge on hair fibres. It also serves as a flavorant intermediate in food and nutrition applications.
Di2EHA is supplied as a liquid in standard industrial drum and IBC formats. It falls under REACH registration requirements for EU supply and must be handled in accordance with applicable CLP classification. Buyers should confirm grade specifications and purity certificates directly with the supplier prior to procurement.
