Bis(2-hydroxyethyl)oleylamine, CAS 25307-17-9, is a fatty amine ethoxylate derived from oleic acid, commercially known under trade names such as Armostat 710. It belongs to the amine surfactant class and carries no assigned E-code. The compound combines a long unsaturated alkyl chain with two hydroxyethyl groups, giving it both hydrophilic and lipophilic character.
In plastics processing, it functions as an antistatic agent by migrating to the polymer surface and dissipating electrostatic charge through moisture absorption. In metalworking fluids and corrosion inhibitor formulations, the amine nitrogen coordinates to metal surfaces, forming a protective adsorbed layer. It also acts as an emulsifier in textile and leather auxiliaries, stabilising oil-in-water systems through interfacial activity.
