Bis(2-methacryloyloxyethyl) hydrogen phosphate (CAS 32435-46-4) is a phosphate-functional methacrylate monomer, commercially known as Kayamer PM-2. It carries no assigned E-code. The compound combines a reactive methacrylate group with a pendant phosphate moiety within a single molecule.
In adhesive and coating formulations, the phosphate group bonds covalently to metal oxide surfaces, improving adhesion to aluminium and steel substrates without primers. In flame-retardant polymer systems, it incorporates phosphorus directly into the polymer backbone during free-radical polymerisation, reducing reliance on additive-type flame retardants that can migrate or leach.
