Description

Bis[4-(2-hydroxy-2-methylpropionyl)phenyl]methane, commercially known as Omnirad 127, Irgacure 127, and IGM 127, is a difunctional alpha-hydroxy ketone photoinitiator. It carries no assigned E-code. Under UV exposure, it undergoes Norrish Type I cleavage to generate reactive benzoyl radicals that initiate free-radical polymerization.

In UV-curable coatings and printing inks, Omnirad 127 initiates crosslinking of acrylate and methacrylate resins upon irradiation, producing hard, solvent-resistant films. Its difunctional structure generates two radical pairs per molecule, improving initiation efficiency at lower loadings compared to monofunctional alternatives. It is also used in UV-cure adhesives where controlled cure depth and low extractables are required.

This material is supplied in compliance with REACH regulations and is available in standard industrial grades. Typical packaging formats include drums and smaller quantities for laboratory or pilot-scale use. Procurement teams should confirm current SDS documentation and lot-specific purity data prior to formulation.
