Bismuth 2-ethylhexanoate

It carries no assigned E-code. It belongs to the class of metal carboxylate catalysts used as tin-free alternatives in reactive systems.

In polyurethane coatings and sealants, it accelerates the reaction between isocyanate groups and hydroxyl or moisture-cure systems, controlling gel time and through-cure rate. In adhesive and elastomer formulations, it promotes crosslink density without the toxicological profile associated with organotin compounds. It is also employed as a drier or curing promoter in alkyd-based coatings.
