Description

Bismuth neodecanoate (CAS 34364-26-6) is an organobismuth carboxylate catalyst supplied under trade names including Coscat 83, NeoBi 200, NeoBi 200BA, Bk 850, and Valikat Bi 2810. It carries no assigned E-code. As a metal carboxylate salt, it belongs to the broader family of organometallic catalysts used as tin-free alternatives in reactive systems.

In polyurethane coatings and sealants, bismuth neodecanoate accelerates the urethane-forming reaction between isocyanates and hydroxyl groups, enabling cure at ambient or mildly elevated temperatures without organotin compounds. It is also used in alkyd resin systems and reactive adhesives where controlled cross-linking speed and pot-life balance are required.

The compound is available in solvent-based and solvent-free grades to suit different formulation requirements and is subject to REACH registration obligations within the EU. Suppliers typically offer it in drums or IBCs. Procurement teams should confirm grade specification and bismuth metal content when comparing sources.
