Description

C.I. Pigment Blue 60, also known as Blue O, Blue 60, Vat Blue 4, and registered under E-code E130, is a synthetic anthraquinone-based pigment with CAS number 81-77-6. It belongs to the vat dye class, characterised by its insolubility in water and requirement for reduction to achieve substrate affinity.

In textile dyeing, Blue 60 is reduced to its soluble leuco form using alkaline sodium dithionite, allowing fibre penetration before re-oxidation fixes the colour permanently within the substrate. In coatings and plastics, it functions as a stable blue colorant where its planar molecular structure promotes strong pigment-to-surface interaction, contributing to surface modification and wetting performance.

Blue 60 is supplied under REACH compliance and is available in pigment-grade powder form. It carries HS code 3204.15.8000, classifying it within vat pigments for customs purposes. Procurement quantities and packaging formats are available on request through standard B2B supply channels.
