Description

Calcium Bromide (CaBr2, CAS 7789-41-5) is an inorganic salt composed of calcium and bromine, supplied as a white powder or bead form. It carries no E-code designation and is also referenced under the names calcium dibromide and Calcium (II) Bromide. Its EC number is 232-164-6.

In oil and gas drilling, CaBr2 functions as a high-density completion fluid, controlling wellbore pressure without solids. In water treatment and pharmaceutical manufacturing, it acts as an antimicrobial agent and pH buffer, releasing bromide ions that disrupt microbial cell function. It also serves as a flame retardant additive in polymer formulations, where it interrupts combustion chain reactions.

Calcium Bromide is available in technical and pharmaceutical grades, with supply conforming to REACH registration requirements applicable to EU markets. Packaging is offered in standard industrial formats suited to bulk procurement. Buyers in regulated industries should confirm grade suitability against Ph.Eur. or FCC specifications where required.
