Description

Calcium lignosulfonate (CAS 8061-52-7, EC 617-125-7) is a water-soluble anionic polymer derived from sulfite pulping of wood, where lignin is sulfonated and neutralised with calcium. It is commercially available under trade names including Lignone, Darvan 4, Norlig A, Bindarene, and Norlig MC.

In concrete admixtures, it adsorbs onto cement particles and creates electrostatic repulsion, reducing water demand by up to 10% while maintaining workability. In mining, it acts as a dust suppressant and ore flotation depressant. In agricultural granulation, it binds particles through its polyelectrolyte structure, improving pellet integrity under mechanical stress.

Calcium lignosulfonate is supplied as a yellow powder and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU. It is available in technical and feed-grade specifications, with feed-grade material compliant with relevant EU additive regulations for use as a binder in compound feed. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags and bulk containers.
