Description
Calcium nitrate (CAS 10124-37-5), also known as Norway saltpeter, Norge saltpeter, or calcium dinitrate, is an inorganic salt supplying both calcium and nitrate ions in a single compound. It is commercially available under trade names including Nutriox and Synfat 1006.
In agriculture, it delivers plant-available nitrogen and calcium directly through fertigation systems, supporting cell wall integrity and reducing tip burn in leafy crops. In water treatment and concrete admixture applications, it accelerates cement hydration and inhibits corrosion of steel reinforcement by promoting the formation of a passive iron oxide layer.
Calcium nitrate is supplied in technical and fertilizer grades, typically as granules, prills, or concentrated aqueous solution. It falls under REACH registration requirements for industrial supply within the EU. Packaging commonly includes 25 kg bags, bulk bags, and IBC containers for liquid grades.
