Description

Calcium sulfate dihydrate (CAS 10101-41-4) is a naturally occurring mineral salt, commonly known as gypsum or CaSO4·2H2O, and sold under trade names including Compactrol and Annaline. It carries no E-number designation and is registered under EC 600-148-1.

In food and nutrition, it functions as a firming agent and dough conditioner by supplying calcium ions that strengthen protein networks in bread and tofu production. In construction, it acts as the primary binder in plaster and wallboard, setting through controlled rehydration of calcined forms. Agricultural applications rely on its slow calcium and sulfur release to correct soil pH and improve clay structure.

Calcium sulfate dihydrate is available in food-grade (FCC), pharmaceutical-grade (Ph.Eur.), and technical grades as a white powder. It is fully REACH-registered and compliant with EU food additive regulations where applicable. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags and bulk quantities for industrial procurement.
