Carbohydrazide

Carbohydrazide (CAS 497-18-7, EC 207-837-2, formula CH6N4O), also known commercially as carbazide or cabazide, is an organic compound belonging to the amine chemical family. It carries no assigned E-code and is classified under HS code 29280000 for customs and trade purposes.

In water treatment, carbohydrazide functions as an oxygen scavenger, reacting directly with dissolved oxygen in boiler feedwater to prevent corrosion in steam systems. In polymer and plastics manufacturing, it acts as a crosslinker and curing agent, forming stable hydrazone bonds with carbonyl-containing resins to improve mechanical and thermal resistance.
