Description

Carboxymethyl cellulose sodium salt (CMC) is a water-soluble cellulose derivative identified by CAS 9004-32-4 and approved as food additive E466. It is commercially available under designations including CMC 7H, CMC 7M, CMC 7L, and S75M, and is registered under EC number 618-378-6.

In pharmaceutical tablet manufacturing, CMC acts as a binder and disintegrant by absorbing water and swelling to control release profiles. In oil and gas drilling fluids, it modifies rheology by increasing viscosity and reducing fluid loss into porous formations. Food and personal care formulators use it to stabilise emulsions and suspend particles through chain entanglement in aqueous systems.

This product is supplied as a low-viscosity solid grade suitable for dissolution in aqueous formulations. It meets Ph.Eur., FCC, and E466 specifications, and is registered under REACH. Procurement teams can request technical data sheets and certificates of analysis to confirm grade suitability prior to ordering.
