Citrus red 2

Citrus Red 2 (CAS 6358-53-8, EC 228-778-9, C.I. 12156) is a synthetic azo dye with the molecular formula C18H16N2O3. It carries no approved E-code for food use in the EU and is not recognised as a food additive under European regulation. It is also referenced under the abbreviations CITRUSRED and CITRUSRED NO. 2.

In industrial applications, Citrus Red 2 is used as a colorant in plastics and polymer compounding, where it imparts orange-red hues through dispersion within the polymer matrix.
