Coco-caprylate/caprate

Coco-caprylate/caprate (CAS 95912-86-0, EC 306-082-7) is a mixed ester derived from coconut fatty alcohol and caprylic/capric acids. It is commercially available under trade names including Captex 170EP, Miglyol Coco 810, and Cocoyl Caprylocaprate, and is also referred to as Coco-Caprilate/Caprate in supplier documentation.

In personal care formulations, it functions as a lightweight emollient carrier, solubilising active ingredients and improving skin spreadability without the greasy residue associated with heavier esters. In pharmaceutical topical preparations, it serves as a penetration-enhancing vehicle, facilitating transdermal delivery of active compounds by disrupting the lipid barrier of the stratum corneum.
