Description

Copper(II) hydroxide (CAS 20427-59-2) is an inorganic copper salt commercially available under trade names including Kocide, Kocide 101, Comac, Kuprablau, and Cupravit blau. It carries no assigned E-code and is registered under EC number 243-815-9 with the molecular formula CuH2O2.

In agriculture, it functions as a contact fungicide and bactericide, releasing copper ions that disrupt microbial enzyme systems to control foliar pathogens on crops. Water treatment operations use it to suppress algae and bacterial growth in reservoirs and distribution systems. The pulp and paper industry applies it as a preservative biocide to inhibit microbial degradation during processing.

Copper(II) hydroxide is supplied as a technical-grade powder and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU. It is classified as a biocidal active substance under BPR (Regulation EU 528/2012). Procurement teams should confirm supplier SDS documentation and applicable authorisation status for the intended product type.
