Description

D-Fructose (CAS 57-48-7) is a naturally occurring monosaccharide sugar found in fruits, honey, and root vegetables. Also known as fruit sugar, it is commercially available under trade names including Laevosan and Furucton. It carries no E-number designation but is recognised as a food-grade ingredient across major regulatory frameworks.

In food and beverage formulation, fructose delivers approximately 1.2 to 1.8 times the sweetness intensity of sucrose, allowing reduced sugar loading in finished products. In personal care, it functions as a humectant by binding water molecules within the skin matrix, and as an antioxidant by scavenging free radicals in emulsion systems. Pharmaceutical applications include use as an excipient in oral solutions and parenteral nutrition.

D-Fructose is sourced in food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade forms, with compliance to FCC, Ph.Eur., and USP monographs available depending on grade. It falls under REACH registration and is classified under HS code 17025000. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags and bulk formats for industrial procurement.
