Description

D-Glucose (CAS 50-99-7), also known as dextrose, is a naturally occurring monosaccharide sourced primarily from starch hydrolysis. It is commercially available under trade names including Cartose and Candex. No E-number applies to D-glucose as a standalone ingredient in EU food regulation.

In food and nutrition manufacturing, D-glucose functions as a fermentation substrate and sweetener, providing a controlled energy source for yeast in baking and brewing applications. In personal care formulations, it acts as a humectant and skin conditioner by drawing moisture to the stratum corneum, and serves as a buffering agent to stabilise product pH.

D-Glucose is supplied in anhydrous and monohydrate crystalline powder grades, conforming to Ph.Eur., FCC, and USP standards depending on application. It falls under HS code 17023051 for EU customs purposes and is fully REACH-registered. Pharmaceutical and food-grade specifications are available to meet sector-specific compliance requirements.
