Description

D-Sucrose (CAS 57-50-1), commonly known as sucrose, cane sugar, or saccharose, is a disaccharide carbohydrate composed of glucose and fructose units. It carries no E-number designation in the EU, as it is classified as a food rather than an additive. It is traded under common names including Saccharum and refined white sugar.

In food and beverage manufacturing, sucrose functions as a fermentation substrate and flavour carrier, providing precise sweetness calibration in confectionery and beverage formulations. In personal care, it acts as a humectant by binding water molecules within the skin matrix, and as a chelating agent that sequesters metal ions to stabilise emulsion systems.

D-Sucrose is available in food-grade, FCC, and Ph.Eur.-compliant grades, supplied as white crystalline powder or as liquid syrup. It is fully REACH-registered and meets EU food-grade standards. Packaging is typically available in 25 kg bags, 1000 kg big bags, and bulk liquid formats.
