Decabromodiphenyl ether (CAS 1163-19-5), also known as DECA, BDE-209, or by trade names such as SAYTEX 102E and FR 300BA, is a fully brominated diphenyl ether containing ten bromine atoms per molecule. It is classified under HS code 29093031 and carries EC number 214-604-9.

In polymer compounding, DECA functions by releasing bromine radicals at combustion temperatures, interrupting the free-radical chain reactions that sustain burning. It is incorporated into high-impact polystyrene and ABS for electronics housings, and into textile back-coatings and construction insulation boards where UL 94 or EN 13501 fire classifications are required.

DECA is supplied as a technical-grade powder and is subject to REACH regulation, where it is listed as a Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) due to PBT properties; buyers should confirm current authorisation status before procurement. Standard packaging is available in 25 kg bags.
