Description

Decyl glucoside (CAS 20427-84-3) is a non-ionic alkyl polyglucoside surfactant derived from glucose and fatty alcohols. It is commercially available under trade names including EON 2, SURFONIC 95, and TERGITOL NP 44, and carries no assigned E-code. It is also referenced in formulation contexts as VANWET 9N9(R) and NONOXYNOL-9.

In personal care formulations, decyl glucoside functions as a mild emulsifier, reducing interfacial tension between oil and water phases to stabilise creams and cleansing products. In industrial cleaning and textile processing, it supports degreasing by solubilising oils and facilitating their removal from fibre or hard surfaces. It also contributes to foam regulation in pulp and paper and water treatment processes.

Decyl glucoside is supplied in liquid form and is subject to REACH registration requirements for EU market compliance. Procurement teams should confirm grade specifications against intended application, particularly for personal care use where cosmetic-grade documentation and safety data sheets are required.
