Description

Decyl glucoside (CAS 54549-25-6, EC 259-218-1) is a non-ionic alkyl polyglucoside surfactant derived from glucose and fatty alcohols, commonly abbreviated as APG10 and also known as Decyl D-Glucoside or n-Decyl glucoside. It carries no assigned E-code and is not classified as a food additive.

In personal care formulations, decyl glucoside functions as a mild foaming agent and emulsifier in shampoos, body washes, and facial cleansers, where its hydrophilic glucose headgroup reduces interfacial tension without disrupting the skin barrier. In food-contact and industrial cleaning applications, it supports degreasing through micelle formation around lipophilic soils, enabling effective rinsing at low concentrations.

Decyl glucoside is supplied in liquid form and is REACH-registered for the European market. It meets the requirements of relevant cosmetic regulations under EC 1223/2009 and is compatible with natural and organic certification frameworks. Standard packaging includes drums and IBC containers.
