Delta-Cadinene

Delta-Cadinene (CAS 483-76-1, C15H24) is a naturally occurring sesquiterpene hydrocarbon found in the essential oils of numerous plants, including cotton, conifers, and various aromatic herbs. It is also referred to as Δ-Cadinene or (+)-δ-Cadinene and carries no assigned E-code.

In flavour and fragrance formulation, delta-Cadinene contributes woody, spicy, and herbaceous character to finished compositions, functioning as a background modifier that rounds harsher top notes. In personal care applications, it serves as a fragrance component in rinse-off and leave-on products, where its low volatility supports longer-lasting scent profiles.

Delta-Cadinene is supplied as a liquid and is subject to REACH registration requirements for quantities above one tonne per year within the EU.
