Description

Delta-Cadinene (CAS 483-76-1, C15H24) is a naturally occurring sesquiterpene hydrocarbon found in the essential oils of numerous plants, including cotton, conifers, and various aromatic herbs. It is also referred to as Δ-Cadinene or (+)-δ-Cadinene and carries no assigned E-code.

In flavour and fragrance formulation, delta-Cadinene contributes woody, spicy, and herbaceous character to finished compositions, functioning as a background modifier that rounds harsher top notes. In personal care applications, it serves as a fragrance component in rinse-off and leave-on products, where its low volatility supports longer-lasting scent profiles.

Delta-Cadinene is supplied as a liquid and is subject to REACH registration requirements for quantities above one tonne per year within the EU. Procurement teams should confirm supplier documentation including SDS, purity certificates, and origin declarations to satisfy internal compliance and traceability requirements.
