Description

Dextrin (CAS 9004-53-9) is a partially hydrolysed starch derivative produced by thermal or enzymatic treatment of native starch. Sold under trade names including Pinedex, Leiocom, Fortodex, and Caloreen, it is classified under HS code 35051000 and is registered under REACH with EC number 232-675-4.

In textile sizing, dextrin forms a protective film around yarn fibres, reducing breakage during weaving. In printing and packaging, it functions as an adhesive binder, providing controlled tack and film formation on paper substrates. Pharmaceutical manufacturers use it as a tablet excipient and spray-drying carrier, where its solubility profile controls active ingredient release.

Dextrin is available in food-grade and technical-grade forms, with food-contact material complying with FCC and EU Regulation 231/2012 where applicable. It is fully REACH-registered and supplied in 25 kg bags or bulk quantities. Specific viscosity and dextrose equivalent grades are available to match process requirements.
