Description
Di(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid, commonly known as DEHPA, HDEHP, or D-2-EHPA, is an organophosphoric acid with the formula C16H35O4P (CAS 298-07-7, EC 206-056-4). It carries no E-code designation and is also referenced under the trade names Diisooctyl Acid Phosphate and Di(2-ethylhexyl) Phosphate.
In hydrometallurgical processing, DEHPA selectively extracts and separates rare earth metals, cobalt, and nickel from aqueous leach solutions by forming stable metal-phosphate complexes that transfer into the organic phase. It also functions as an anti-wear and corrosion-inhibiting additive in metalworking fluids, where its acidic phosphate group bonds to metal surfaces under boundary lubrication conditions.
DEHPA is supplied as a technical-grade liquid and is registered under REACH. It is available in standard IBC and drum packaging. Buyers should confirm purity specifications and supplier documentation to meet internal qualification requirements for extractive metallurgy or lubricant formulation applications.
