Description

Diallyl phthalate (DAP, CAS 131-17-9) is a difunctional monomer derived from phthalic acid and allyl alcohol, commercially available under trade names including Dapon R, DAP-M, DT 170, and Dappu. It carries no E-code designation and is classified under HS code 29173400.

In thermoset polymer systems, DAP acts as a reactive crosslinker by incorporating into polymer chains through its two allyl double bonds, building heat-resistant, dimensionally stable networks used in electrical components and moulding compounds. In printing inks and coatings, it functions as a reactive diluent that participates in cure rather than evaporating as a solvent.

DAP is supplied as a liquid monomer and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU. Procurement teams should confirm inhibitor levels and peroxide content specifications with the supplier, as these affect shelf life and processing behaviour.
