Description
Diethylene glycol diacrylate (DEGDA, CAS 4074-88-8) is a bifunctional acrylate monomer available under trade names including SR 230, Kayarad DEGDA, and TGA 2. It carries no E-code designation and is registered under EC number 223-791-6. Its two reactive acrylate groups make it a difunctional building block for polymer network formation.
In UV-curable coatings, DEGDA acts as a reactive diluent that lowers viscosity while simultaneously incorporating into the cured network through free-radical crosslinking, improving hardness and chemical resistance. In adhesive and sealant formulations, it builds crosslink density to control cohesive strength and reduce creep. It is also used in printing inks to accelerate cure response under UV or electron-beam exposure.
DEGDA is supplied as a clear liquid and is subject to REACH registration requirements for EU import and use. It is not listed under FCC or Ph.Eur. standards, reflecting its industrial rather than food or pharmaceutical positioning. Packaging typically follows standard industrial formats for reactive monomers.
