Diglycolamine

Diglycolamine (DGA, CAS 929-06-6) is an aliphatic amino alcohol also known as Aminodiglycol, Aminoethoxyethanol, and Diethylene Glycolamine. It carries no assigned E-code and is classified under HS code 29221980. The compound combines a primary amine group with an ether-linked hydroxyl, giving it dual reactivity.

In waterborne coatings and epoxy systems, DGA acts as a crosslinker and curing agent by reacting with epoxide or isocyanate groups to build network structure. In water treatment, it functions as a pH buffer and mild antimicrobial agent, controlling corrosion in process water circuits. Personal care formulators use it as a conditioning agent in hair products, where it neutralizes anionic polymers and improves wet-comb performance.
