Description

Dihexadecyldimethylammonium chloride (CAS 1812-53-9), also known by trade names Aliquat 206 and Adogen 432CG and the INCI name Dicetyldimonium Chloride, is a dichain quaternary ammonium compound. It carries a permanent positive charge that drives its activity across surfactant, biocidal, and conditioning applications.

In water treatment, the cationic charge allows it to bind negatively charged bacterial membranes, disrupting cell integrity and functioning as a broad-spectrum biocide. In textile and personal care formulations, it adsorbs onto fibre or hair surfaces, reducing static charge and modifying surface friction. It also acts as an emulsifier by stabilising oil-water interfaces through electrostatic anchoring.

This material is supplied as a solid and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the European Economic Area. Procurement teams should confirm SDS compliance with CLP regulation and verify supplier registration status. Packaging formats and available grades should be confirmed directly with the supplier.
