Dilaurin

Dilaurin (CAS 27638-00-2) is a diglyceride ester formed from glycerol and two lauric acid chains, commercially available under trade names including Lexemul GDL and Emulsynt GDL, and also referenced as didodecanoin or dialaurin. It carries no assigned E-code and belongs to the oils, fats, and waxes category of specialty lipid ingredients.

In food and personal care formulations, dilaurin functions as an emulsifier by positioning its polar glycerol head and lipophilic laurate tails at oil-water interfaces, stabilising emulsions that would otherwise separate. In pharmaceutical applications, it serves as a lipid carrier in topical and semi-solid systems, improving the solubility and delivery of poorly water-soluble actives.
