Description

Dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP, CAS 6422-86-2) is a phthalate-free plasticizer commercially available under trade names including Eastman 168, Kodaflex DOTP, and JP 110. It belongs to the terephthalate ester family and carries no assigned E-code. It is registered under REACH and classified under HS code 29173990.

In PVC compounding, DOTP functions by intercalating between polymer chains, reducing glass transition temperature and improving low-temperature flexibility without the regulatory concerns associated with ortho-phthalates. In personal care formulations, it serves as an emollient and film-forming agent in nail lacquers and skin-contact coatings, and its UV-stabilizing properties help protect formulations from photodegradation.

DOTP is supplied as a clear liquid in standard industrial packaging including IBC containers and bulk tankers. It complies with REACH registration requirements and is suitable for applications requiring phthalate-free documentation. Procurement teams should confirm grade specifications against relevant polymer or cosmetic application standards prior to ordering.
